Defined, ripe black cherry and forest fruit, a lovely crunchy character with secondary tobacco and liquorice flavours.  2018 was a vintage with poise and control, supple ripe tannins; an inviting and generous wine.  13.5%

The ‘Il Roccafiore’ is the estate red, showcasing Luca’s style: genuine, expressive fruit, natural and precise.  The vineyard was planted in 1999 on an east, to southeast slope, Guyot trained at a density of 6000 vines per hectare.  The soils are white clays, over limestone.

The yield is limited to just over 1kg per vines, the grapes are hand-picked at the end of September, then destemmed, pressed and cold macerated for 12 days, before a temperature-controlled fermentation in steel tanks using wild yeasts*.  The wine is racked into Slovenian oak barrels where it remains for 2 years.  The malolactic transformation* occurs naturally.
