In 2018 Elena Neri produced her first wine, a Sizzano. The name may be new, but the vineyard is not, Elena bought a 60 year old vineyard above the ridge that runs from Ghemme to Fara. New plantings of Nebbiolo and Vespolina and some white grapes have been made, for now only the old vines are in production. Elena Neri is a vet by profession, she has a connection with this land, but to enable her ambition to make a great wine she has wisely employed the help of Paolo Cominoli to manage the vineyards and make the wines in his established cellar in the centre of Sizzano. This is an excellent arrangement, Paolo is local and as well as having long experience with making the wines of Sizzano, he also makes Franciacorta for a larger producer. Elena has (excellently) chosen the 2000 litre French oak botti* in which the wine is aged, alongside Paolo’s own wines.
