Villa Era. Vigliano
Villa Era. Vigliano
Coste della Sesia DOC.
Spanna di Vigliano.
Grape: Nebbiolo
2018
Old rose and damson on the nose, just a touch of oak. The palate is so bright, with vibrant crisp berry, and star anise laced, floral fruit. The tannins are immaculate, this is a very lovely wine. 13.5%
2016
Impeccable balance, a wine with clarity and tension, fine tannin and great complexity.
This is a wine that is reserved in the cellar of Villa Sera, it will be delivered into the UK in March 2024.

Villa Era make one of the great, old wines of the Alto Piemonte. A tiny number of bottles are made each year, which are largely enjoyed by family and friends. The name of the wine has changed subtly over the years from ‘Vigliano Spanna’ to ‘Rondo’ and now back to ‘Villa Era’. There is no DOC for Vigliano, so the larger, catch all official classification of ‘Coste della Sesia’ is used.
There are 3 wines made: a rose, the Rondo and this, their top wine, ‘Villa Era’, which uses the best Nebbiolo grown on a beautiful amphitheatre of vines behind the Villa.
The grapes are de-stemmed and fermented in a steel tank using a spontaneous* fermentation, after which the wine is aged in French oak for a year. The wine is bottled without fining or filtration.
