The Valpolicella Superiore discipline covers a multitude of styles, it offers something of a blank canvas for a winemaker to express their art. Agostino’s is a very straight wine, no appassimento, no ripasso, no messing about at all, just immaculate fruit from high altitude, volcanic vineyards.
The vineyard is near Cazzano di Tramigna, at between five and six hundred metres above sea level, on volcanic rock. It is just one hectare of vines on earth terraces that follow the contours of the hill that were planted in 2002.
The vines are usually picked late (the third week of October), the geography enforces manual labour. When the bunches arrive at the cantina they are sorted again (first selection by the pickers), crushed and fermented with the skins in temperature-controlled steel tanks, then lightly pressed and decanted into used tonneaux for two years.

The first vintage of this wine was the 2011, there were just eight hundred bottles.
