Sampietrana. Primitivo 'Tre Filari'
Dense, ultra-ripe spiced raspberry and blackberry fruit, fig and vanilla add complexity to this warm and rich red.
An explosive expression of Primitivo, created by using only hand selected bunches from low-yielding vines that are trained as small trees, a system known locally as ‘Alberello Pugliese’. The soils are chalk rich clays, the climate more desert than Mediterranean. The grapes are partially dried (appassimento) before fermentation, giving even more concentrated flavours. The wine is then aged in used barriques for 8 months before being bottled in the most impressive bottles that Sampietrana could source.
