2022
A pink hue. Strawberry and dark skinned berry fruit, a touch of clove and cinnamon on the nose. Lovely creamy texture, pure raspberry and forest fruit, a twist of bitter candied lemon on the finish. (last few cases of the 2022) 12.5%
2024
A wine with a beautiful washed-out, salmon pink hue; immaculate ripe, raspberry freshness and a lovely strawberries and cream texture. A finely balanced rosé that is so much more than ‘just’ an aperitivo. 12%
Puglia has a long history of making Rosé wines, usually from Negroamaro, sometimes from Primitivo or with Susumaniello. This is a particularly rare wine; a pure Nero di Troia, from a single north-facing vineyard that was planted between 1998 and 2002. The vines grow on light coloured clay topsoils which barely cover the limestone escarpment looking out to the Gargano peninsula.
2024 was a year that winter forgot, budburst came early, and the summer settled in. The usual challenge of creating a fresh rosé in such heat was achieved by picking a little early, this preserved the acidity and held the flavours in check. The grapes were pressed and given no time on their skins. Two thirds of the wine was fermented at 30°C in steel tanks, the remainder in used barriques, all with selected yeasts.
