Sant'Agnese. Merlot 'Rubido'

Grape: Merlot

Ripe, fleshy strawberry, damson and berry flavours, laced with spice, bitter chocolate, ripe jammy fruit; beautifully intense and rich – California meets Pomerol.  An absolute classic merlot powerhouse, unlike any merlot I have bought (there haven't been many), this one is unrestrained and joyous.  The Hagrid of wines.

Rubido means very intense, fitting for this soft, rich Merlot. Fermentation is in cement vats at 25° with regular pumping over. The wine is then racked and held in concrete tanks for malolactic fermentation, after which it is aged in barrique for eight months before a final assemblage and bottling.
