di Marzo. Three Crus of Greco di Tufo
di Marzo. Three Crus of Greco di Tufo
A mixed case of 2 bottles of each of the 3 Greco crus from Cantine di Marzo:
Serrone was the first Cru to be released. The soils are rich in sulphur with generous clay and chalk in the topsoils.
Ferrante sees Serrone as ‘the hooligan’, immensely talented, but unpredictable in youth and brilliant if given time to mature.
Ortale is a very particular ‘Cru’, it faces south-southwest and is at an altitude of 350 metres within the commune of San Lucia. The soils are sparse clays with broken limestone and sulphur and Ortale has the highest content of volcanic rock.
In Ferrante’s opinion, Ortale is ‘the dreamer’, a wine with ethereal quality.
Laure lies 2km from Serrone and Ortale, is right on top of the old sulphur mine and the soils are unusually rich in sulphur.
Ferrante thinks of this wine as ‘the academic’ of the 3, it is measured and precise.
