2021
2021 is a memorable vintage for Cinciorosso; there is an intricacy to this wine: red berry fruit, touched with clove; a rosemary whisp of a summer's breeze, hints of a pork Sunday roast. Fresh and full, an unusually fine edition of this lovely wine. 13.5%
Cinciorosso is made from Cinciole’s youngest vines, which are not young at all, most are over 10 years old. It is a generous tasting wine that uses Merlot and Syrah to soften the Sangiovese tannins. The production is just 6000 bottles and Luca only uses fruit from Le Cinciole, where the whole farm is certified as organic.
The vines are harvested by hand before facing the challenge of the selection table. The bunches that make it are crushed before a wild yeast fermentation in concrete tanks. This is an elegant, pared-back style of wine that is a true representation of Le Cinciole. Half the wine was matured in amphora, the other half in concrete tanks.
