Colline Lucchesi DOC
Grapes Sangiovese (60%), Ciliegiolo (26.5%), Syrah (13.5%)

Pure, ripe black cherries on the nose lifted by lemon and a floral nuance. Ripe sloe and damson, flint and ripe easy tannins. A complex, ripe vintage which is remarkably forward and none the worse for it.

The vineyards are between 180 and 290 metres above sea level; their exposure is between southeast and southwest on slopes at a gradient of between ten and twenty degrees. The soils are mostly medium clays, rich in minerals and poor in organic matter. An ideal and balanced terroir for the vines with magnificent Tuscan sunshine and significantly, above-average rainfall which prevents them from becoming too stressed.
Sardini’s vines are trained using a ‘bilateral cordon’ system at a height of 2.4 meters. The object is to maximise the leaf area and to naturally suppress the yield. Bunches are picked by hand and transported the short distance to the winery in small boxes. They are then sorted again before a temperature-controlled fermentation in steel tanks. This wine was matured for seven months in steel tanks. The wine was bottled with a light filtration and then held for another three months before being released.
