The Granite Post. Albarino
Rias Baixas DO
This is an aged Albarino, no light summer drinker, it has evolved and now has a flether of mature flavours that cross a line into the dry Amontillado flavour spectrum. This evolution does mean that the odd bottle will have tipped over, I haven't come accross one, some customers have.
FULL DISCLOSURE: old wine is not for everybody, please don't buy it if you are after a fresh, light wine.
Complex, mature Albarino with baked apple and candied citrus fruit. 13%
This wine was too good an offer for us to miss, hence a Spanish wine appearing as a guest on our list. Our old friend, Robert of Poujol has relocated to Spain and taken over this cellar to produce The Granite Post.. The vines are probably between 60 and 100 years old, they are huge, all are within the Salnes sub-zone of Rias Baixas. The wine is fermented and aged in large, 2500 litre barrels, the aim being to make a more 'Burgundian' style wine. 2016 is a classic vintage.
