Conte Emo Capodilista. 'Ireneo'

Conte Emo Capodilista. 'Ireneo'

Colli Euganei Cabernet Sauvignon DOC
Grape: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot 6%, Carmenere 4%

Very pure cassis, very old school, pepper and spice and the gentlest of measures. A complex and elegant wine, light on tannins. Warm and well rounded. 13%

Producer. Conte Emo Capodilista

Irenèo means ‘peace’ in Greek and there is something serene and supremely confident about this wine.  Giordano bought the vineyard in the early 2000s, recognising that this terroir is superb for both Cabernet Sauvignon and Moscato Giallo, both varieties having been introduced by Venetian merchants centuries ago.  The soils are a mix of marl, basalt, and limestone, rich in minerals with water retention, a superb terroir.  Whilst not registered as organic, it is managed along ‘non-intervention’ lines, a pragmatic stance that follows the needs of the vines and the local environment.

The grapes are hand-picked, sorted and fermented in steel tanks and aged in barrique for a year at La Montecchia.
