Camillo Montori. Montepulciano D'Abruzzo
Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC.
Fresh, open and full red berry and plum fruit. Full and delicious, no oak, very pure – a little time in bottle will provide a great return, the colour will fade, the tannins soften and fruit mellow, popped in a decanter it makes for economical dinner party excellence. 14%
This is a template for modern Montepulciano, the vines are trained using a spurred cordon system most of which surround the cantina. Yields are limited to approximately eleven tons of grapes per hectare which are harvested by hand in the first part of October. Fermentation is on the skins and takes just over a week at temperatures kept between 28˚C and 30˚C. The wine is racked off the skins and is aged and goes through malolactic conversion in steel tanks.
