A terraced limestone vineyard, with some sandy topsoils, absolutely classic for growing Syrah. Happily Matteo is sticking to his vision of a restrained, structured wine and his Syrah is becoming deeper and more beautifully structured each year.
This is a very particular wine that may be the most unaffected of its type in Piemonte. The grapes are harvested by hand in the first two weeks of October, the fermentation lasts about 20 days. Ageing is for 30 months in Slovenian oak. About 6700 bottles are made each year.
