Zeni (Roberto). 'Schwarzhof' Gewurztraminer
Delle Venezie IGT
The aromas of this wine are absolutely pure Gewürztraminer, it is such an aromatic varietal with woven lychee and rose flavours. This has a strong backbone and is not overly sweet. There is a minerality and tautness to the wine which makes it wonderfully drinkable. 13.5%
Schwarzhof is high above the Rotaliano plain, the vineyards are at 450 meters on a steep Southwest facing slope, the soils are rich in Dolomitic chalks over limestone.
The vineyard was planted in 2005 on the Colline dei Sorni, though the first wines have only been released since 2009. Vines are planted using a Guyot system at a density of 5500 vines per hectare, six bunches are left on each vine.
The harvest must be made by hand. The grapes are cold macerated prior to a temperature-controlled fermentation in steel tanks.
