Camillo Montori. Trebbiano 'Fonte Cupa'

Camillo Montori. Trebbiano 'Fonte Cupa'

Trebbiano d'Abruzzo DOC
Grape: Trebbiano

A delicious vintage, crisp citrus fruit, flinty, spring water fresh, very pretty indeed. 13.5%

link to the Camillo Montori producer page

There is some confusion around Trebbiano d’Abruzzo, which is understandable as the varieties that can legally claim the title are many and varied - and with up to 15% of authorised varieties allowed to join the party, the character of the wine is harder yet to define.  This is an exception, the Fonte Cupa is a thoroughbred who pedigree is constantly monitored by a joint project with the Università degli Studi di Teramo.
The vines are planted on the hills of Controguerra, just above the winery using a spurred cordon system. Yields are limited to approximately ten tons of grapes per hectare which are harvested by hand in the second half of September. The grapes are gently pressed and the skins are separated for the wine to ferment at controlled low temperatures. The wine is aged in steel tanks.
