Bulfon. Grappa di Ucelut
Grappa di Ucelùt 40%
Ucelùt grapes are incredibly sweet and the birds love them, so traditionally these vines are planted as a decoy to look after other grapes. It has been propagated for centuries in the Western Friuli exclusively to make sweet wines.
Bulfon's sweet Ucelùt has evolved over the years and, although it is a wine that we used to buy, I have not been so convinced by more recent releases. It is now an appassimento wine, rather than the late harvest it used to be - more akin to a Vin Santo - in a return to a similar logic, I think that if I want Vin Santo, do you know what, I'll buy Vin Santo! However, the resultant grappa made from these sweet skins ‰ÛÒ fantastic!
