Socré is a tiny cantina that has been in Marco Piacentino's family since 1871. The land is prized and a historically important Cru, the vines are mature as most were planted by Marco’s father Oreste, the ingredients for great wine are all there.
The story for Socré really started in 2001 when Marco and his wife Rosella decided to start making wines, rather than selling the grapes to their famous neighbours. Marco is an architect and has created a simple, and elegant cellar which was completed in 2012.
Guido Busatto has been brought in as the enologist to help make raise Socré into the top ranks of Langhe wines, to say that early results are encouraging is a huge understatement.
