The True Adventurer

The True Adventurer

This is a delightful case to amuse and confuse, the unifying strands are quality and individualism. A case that may stretch Malbec-Man (in a good way).
This selection is a reminder that the world of wine is an impossibly expanding vinous universe.

Disobbedisco (I disobey) was the war cry of poet Gabriele d'Annunzio, the name neatly sums up this Franciacorta, which is an aged Satèn without a dosage, an extremely difficult trick to pull off and the result is exquisite.
Gennaro’s Torrefumo is an unconventional interpretation of Falanghina; flint, sea salt and citrus fruit with floral, apricot flavours, too lovely.
Rossella’s Sassocarlo is the full biodynamic, skin-contact, late-harvest old-vine, genius Trebbiano – extreme and magnificent, certainly for lovers of orange wines, this Is consistently Toscana’s best.
The Buzio family make, perhaps my favourite Grignolino, it hints at so many things but gives nothing away, unforced and unique.
Massimo’s handling of Schioppettino releases such depth, ripe raspberry, crunchy black berry and black pepper, one of the Friuli’s great red wines.
Lastly Luca’s Sagrantino, the most tannic red grape in all of Italy, it is huge and yet this a is glorious interpretation, a wine that leaves me both confused and very happy.
