Iandolo. Timorasso 'Derthona'
Colli Tortonesi DOC
Grape Timorasso
There is more than a hint of Riesling to this wine; steely lime, torn basil, ripe sage and citrus tropical fruit. A bone dry, intense, and complex wine, piercing and powerful, delicious right now and with the promise to develop over many years. 13.5%

Derthona is the Roman name for the area now called the Colli Tortonesi. Derthona wines must be made from Timorasso, which must be cultivated in the Colli Tortonesi. This is an ancient wine that is enjoying a deserved resurgence, great names from Barolo and Barbaresco are investing here.
This is Francesco’s first ever wine, made from a rented 30 year old, vineyard. The soils are thin, rich in chalk, sparsely laid over a bed of limestone.
The vintage was by hand at the end of September. The bunches gently pressed, then macerated* for a few hours to allow the juice naturally to flow out. The fermentation was with selected yeasts, in a steel temperature-controlled (16ºC) tank. The wine was then aged on the lees* for 1 year with a weekly bâtonnage*.
