Cantine del Mare. Falanghina Campi Flegrei

Cantine del Mare. Falanghina Campi Flegrei

Campi Flegrei DOC
Grape: Falanghina

There is something lovely and hands off about this wine, the fruit is delicate and floral with fresh pea, apricot and tangerine. A fine open texture with an addictive salty twist on the finish. 12%

A pure Falanghina from the micro-vineyards: Vigna Fondi di Cigliano, Vigna Torre di Cappella, Vigna zio Peppino, Vigna Torrione, Vigna Castello and Vigna Panoramica. All are on stony, sandy soils that lie over tuffaceous sandstone, a porous rock, formed from compacted volcanic ash. The vines are mostly trained using a ‘Guyot bilaterale’ system, at an average density of 4000 vines per hectare that yield some 7 tons of grapes per hectare. Harvest is towards the end of September, the bunches are picked by hand and transported in small plastic crates to the winery, where they are de-stemmed, pressed and cold soaked* for just over 12 hours. Fermentation is with selected yeasts in temperature-controlled steel tanks, malolactic conversion is blocked. The wine is aged in steel tanks for 6-8 months and given a light filtration before bottling.
