Grape: Gewurztraminer

A third of the grapes come from vineyards at altitudes between 450m and 500m.  The balance is from a part of the grapes are from Bassa Atesina vineyard where the soils are rich in mineral, a mix of gravel and clay that provide a unique flavour.  The grapes are hand-picked, a little later than the main crop, and uber-ripe, whole bunches go straight into a bladder press.  Only the first pressing* is used – this is to avoid any tannins.

The juice is then fermented in temperature-controlled steel tanks and the wine spends a further 8 months on the lees, without a malolactic fermentation.

Enticing aromas of yellow rose, almond, marmalade and lychee.  Rich and aromatic, this is a wine with real force and vigour: lychee, blood orange and pink grapefruit, a delicious floral, almost salty grip.  This has it all.
