Such a pretty wine: jasmine, pear, lime and mango on the nose, it has a lovely texture; fresh, with ripe, exotic fruit.

In 1970 Fiano had all but disappeared. Fortunately it wasn’t just Ferrante’s father, Filippo, who loved it and it hasn’t only survived, it is now promoted as one of Italy’s finest grapes.
This particular wine is a part of history: a part of the vineyard still uses ‘Reggiera’, an ancient system where the vines are planted in pairs, forming a high pergola with overlapping branches. The more recent plantings are Guyot. Overall, the vines are an average age of 20+. The soils are a mixture of clay and sand, mostly on limestone.
The grapes are picked by hand in the middle of October. The bunches are lightly pressed and fermented with inoculated yeasts in temperature-controlled steel tanks. The wine remains on the fine lees* for 8 months, where it goes through a partial malolactic conversion*. The wine is lightly filtered before bottling.
