Picech. Collio Rosso
Grapes: Cabernet Franc (60%) Merlot (20%) Cabernet Sauvignon (20%).
This is the fastest selling of all Roberto’s wines, it is highly acclaimed and very good – if you enjoy decent Pomerol – give it a go. We want his future vintages to find good homes a little quicker.
The vineyard was planted in 1966, 1977 and 1993 using a Guyot system at a density of between 4500 and 5500 plants per hectare. The fermentation is in steel tanks and lasts around 25 days. The Cabernet Sauvignon is aged in barrique for twelve months, the Cabernet Franc and Merlot in steel.
Production: 5000 bottles.
Smooth and intense cassis flavours enhanced by fresh mint and ground spice. The tannins are soft and mature, it is a wine that will develop over many years and is immensely enjoyable now. 13%
